The Beginning Of Calais Campbell’s Relationship With His Wife; She Wasn’t Interested In Him

The Atlanta Falcons defensive end, Campbell and his wife Rocio met in 2012. The two were in a corporate hospitality tent at the Waste Management Phoenix Open golf tournament. Campbell apparently told his friends that Rocio had “marriage potential” right after they had their first conversation.

The Colorado-born footballer however didn’t know if he would see Rocio again. While Calais asked for her number, his future wife didn’t give it to him. She instead took his number. Rocio initially didn’t have any interest in Calais as a football player because she didn’t know much about the game.

The future NFL wag changed her mind once she knew about Calais’ commitment to his family. By the time they went on their second date, they were already talking about their life goals and having children. Rocio and Calais went public with their relationship in 2013. They announced their togetherness by uploading a picture of them on Rocio’s profile in April 2013.

Calais Campbell And Rocio Marriage And Their Life Afterwards

Calais married Rocio on July 8, 2017, in Princeville Resort. The couple celebrated their big day on a beach.

Rocio, however, didn’t announce the marriage until some days later. She revealed the news via her Instagram on July 14 by posting a picture of her and her husband’s hands alongside a caption, Mr and Mrs Campbell.

Meanwhile, Rocio and the 37-year-old footballer are seemingly a strong couple. Together, the two often attend several events. The couple never misses the chance to thank each other for being the best husband/wife. For Campbell, his wife, Rocio always gets mentioned every time the six-time Pro Bowl winner gets an award.

Calais And Rocio As Parents

Rocio and the Cardinals draftee are also parents to two children. They welcomed their first child, Dakari Calais Campbell on May 5, 2020. Calais and his wife’s first child’s name means happiness/joy.

For Calais, to be a father was his lifelong dream. When the six foot eight inches tall athlete finally became a parent he says he was stoked. He and his wife, Rocio didn’t wish to know the gender of their child until the birth.

Expressing her joy at her baby’s birth, Rocio said,

I didn’t see the baby right away, but I could see from Calais’ smile and tone he was very excited. They put the baby on my chest, and he had to peek under the blanket to look [to determine the gender]. He got excited when he saw it was a boy.

The Colorado State graduate and his wife were still relishing the joys of parenthood and nurturing their firstborn when the couple became pregnant with their second child.

Rocio announced she was expecting for the second time on November 4, 2023. By that time, All Pro’s wife was considerably far along in her journey. A mere ten days later, Rocio and her defensive-end husband introduced their newest addition to the world, affectionately referred to as Baby Z.

Considering the couple’s Instagram, the presence of the little ones has been undeniably serving as a binding force for them.

Rocio and the former Ravens player hardly miss to bring the children along on their adventures. The family, now a delightful foursome, radiates warmth and affection.

Hailing from California, Rocio is not only a devoted spouse and mother but also an accomplished scholar. Her academic journey led her to the California State Polytechnic University-Pomona. There she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering between 2007 and 2010. Rocio furthered her academic pursuits by obtaining her Master’s in Chemical Engineering from the University of Florida in 2011.
